I met Chaz Dean by chance in June 2001 at a benefit. We talked and he handed me the WEN products, which I used that next morning. I’ve been trying to work with the natural kinks and coils of my hair forever. I’ve always been very skeptical when it comes to different products on my hair and was pretty committed to a certain product that shall remained nameless, even though my products would make my hair look like a dried up afro, which would be nice if the frizzy effect was what I was going for. I kept thinking, “Yeah, it sounds good but would it really work on my ethnic hair? And why am I experimenting on myself again?” First of all, it was easy to use. It cut out a bunch of steps and cleansed my hair as it conditioned it. “O.K. So far, so good.” Secondly, and I know I might sound like a T.V. commercial, but it was manageable. It combed right through and made it really curly. Lastly, and this is the part that I was scared of, it dried without frizz, with a lot of curl, and SHINY. I got compliments all day. I couldn’t believe it. My husband, who never notices things like this, kept touching my hair. The true test, MY MOTHER, didn’t complain about my hair. In fact, she loved it and asked me, “When are you gonna get me some WEN?”
